Normally, visitors from all over the world travel to Utrecht in November for Le Guess Who?. This year the festival brings Utrecht to them. In collaboration with Front, Le Guess presents Who? the travel program Vunk On Vacation, in which a DJ and producer experiences wild adventures in the Domstad and hosts live sessions with special Dutch acts.
In four episodes David turns out to be a guide through Utrecht. He explores all corners of the city, from Punk Pizza to Brewpub de Kromme Haring and from Broodje Mario to record store Dig It. He learns Arabic atDe Voorkamer, makes coffee at The Village and takes a Chinese dance class at Stichting ’t Zonnetje.
In between the tour David hosts - as a digital replacement for Le Mini Who? - live sessions with math and noise rock band a fungus, Syrian oud player Nawras Altaky, psychedelic salsa and funk formation Conjunto Papa Upa and Greetje Bijma & Oceanic, the voice artist and adventurous producer who joined forces this year.
Vunk On Vacation is part of LGW ON, the online program of Le Guess Who?, featuring documentaries, films and reports from around the world. The program was largely curated by Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie), Matana Roberts, John Dwyer (Thee Oh Sees), Lucrecia Dalt, The Bug, Moon Duo and SUUNS.
